Promote abstract thinking using the Write-Draw-Think approach!
Grade: 4th - 12th
Combine writing and illustration to write a letter to something that cannot write back. Good writing requires abstract thinking. Letters To walks students through a lesson designed to link their concrete ideas to abstract, higher level analysis. Students use comparative literary elements, such as personification, simile, metaphor, imagery, and analogy. Students find this approach both entertaining and effective--even reluctant writers are engaged!
