Therapy and Tutoring

Our speech-language therapy and tutoring with students is founded on evidence-based clinical practice and over thirty years of professional experience.

We have developed strategies for improving a student's foundational skills. In addition, students are taught how to consolidate higher-level language skills in order to be successful with current school demands. Targeted skills may include:

  • Articulation

  • Language Expression

  • Working Memory

  • Deep Comprehension

  • Attention and Executive Functioning

  • Reading Decoding and Comprehension

  • Handwriting and Writing Conventions

  • Phonics and Spelling

  • Word Knowledge and Grammar

  • Composition Skills for Elementary through High School

  • College Prep Writing

Speech-language therapy sessions usually occur once weekly, ranging from a half hour to an hour in length.

For students with concerns predominantly related to academic language, we stay connected with teachers and incorporate schoolwork (traditional or homeschool) into therapy sessions.

Many speech and language goals are best addressed through a combination of in-office therapy and a “carryover” program, providing additional practice at home. We will work with you to determine the most effective intervention for your child’s needs.
